Elissa D. Eller Endowed Chair for Juvenile Diabetes Research

With the generous donation from Scott and Laura Eller, the Elissa D. Eller Endowed Chair for Juvenile Diabetes named in honor of their daughter, Elissa Eller was established. Elissa was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 6. "It's Important to keep the money in Arizona," says Mr. Eller. "I'm pleased to be able to make a decent contribution and to bring more recognition to the research programs at the UA."

This Chair will enable the Steele Center to attract a world-renowned investigator who is on the cutting-edge in juvenile diabetes research. The Eller Chair wil provde the academic leadership necessary to build an effective team of physician/scientists to research the causes of diabetes and search for a cure. "We are very gratedful to thye Ellers for their vision and their generosity," says Dr. Fayez K. Ghishan, Director of the Steele Center. "This endowment in juvenile diabetes is a Godsend for children with this disease. It will allow us to creat the absolute bets program possible to help these kis and their families."
