ActiveWomen's 20-30 Club
|
More than 10 years ago, a partnership began between the Steeele Center and the young professional women who comprise the Active 20-30 Club of Southern Arizona. Each year since, the women have made a gift from the proceeds of their annual fundraising efforts. The Steele Center Director's office was underwritten by 20-30, as were a number of research efforts. The 20-30 Club holds an annual fundraiser--Casino Night--that benefits the Steele Center. As part of their legacy, the women established an endowment which was renamed "The Melody Luyties Memorial Active 20-30 Club Endowment Fund" in memory of Melody Luyties, a beautiful, talented and kind young woman who led the organization's efforts to raise money for cancer research, and who lost her battle with cancer in 1999. Interest from the endowment is used each year for a special project within the Steele Center. To date, the 20-30 Club members have given more than $225,000 to the Steele Center. |
