arizona elks major Projects

Since the Arizona Elks adopted the Steele Children's Research Center (CRC) in 1992 as a "major project," members in lodges around the state have contributed more than $2.2 million.

On the sixth floor of the Steele Center research tower, three laboratories were underwritten by the Arizona Elks, and a charter wall lists the specific lodges and individuals who participated in that effort. The Steele Center has also recognized the Elks generosity in underwriting the renovation of the pediatric outpatient clinic by naming it the Arizona Elks Clinic for Children and Young Adults.

Every year, funds donated by the Elks are used for "seed awards" for innovative research projects. Many of these projects have generated exciting results that have translated into multi-million NIH grants. The Elks show no sign of slowing down their philanthropic efforts, with a stirring call to arms of "Children's Laughter Is What We're After."
