Courtney Zillman |
Jerry Zillman and his wife, Kathy, know more than they ever wanted to about childhood cancer. Their 4-year old daughter, Courtney, diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 9 months old, died on Thanksgiving Day, 1999.
When Courtney was in her second year of treatment, the Zillmans decided to channel some of their grief and frustration into creating an entity that would fight pediatric cancer, and so Tee Up For Tots, Inc. was born. |
The group's signature event is the Tee Up For Tots golf tournament held in August, but fundraising is a year-round effort. In their inaugural year, Tee Up For Tots raised over $50,000, enough to purchase an important piece of research equipment called a laser scanning cytometer.
With Courtney's memory as their inspiration, the dedicated Board of Directors and volunteers for Tee Up For Tots, Inc. are sure to have many more successes ahead.
